Short First Look

A short first look at how customers may see, compare and approach your business.

A small customer journey view prepared by Simon for owner-managed businesses that want to check whether a full Commercial Insight Review would be useful.

Fit first

The short first look is not the full review. It is a small sample of Simon's commercial judgement.

The short first look is a qualifying step for owners who want a glimpse of Simon's evidence-led thinking before commissioning the full review. If you already know you want the deeper work, go straight to the Commercial Insight Review enquiry.

What you receive

A small, useful sample of the 12-point framework.

Practical observations

Specific to your business. The kind of thing a cautious customer may notice on your website, reviews or public profile.

Your public signals

Visible proof, review position or enquiry friction where available, plus one local comparison point where suitable.

What the full review adds

A short note on what the full 12-point Commercial Insight Review would cover that the first look does not.

How it is prepared

Simon uses the same evidence discipline, in a much smaller form.

Each first look is hand-prepared using a small slice of the disciplined commercial reading that sits behind the full 12-point review, kept deliberately smaller so you can judge whether the deeper work is worth commissioning.

  • The business website, enquiry journey and customer-facing proof.
  • Public review platforms such as Google, Tripadvisor or sector-relevant platforms.
  • Companies House, FSA hygiene records or other public records where relevant.
  • ONS, BCC, FSB and BrightLocal sources where they help frame the context.
  • Simon's commercial experience applied to the local trading position.

Simon reads every request himself. The first look is normally returned within three working days where there is enough public evidence and the business appears to be a fit for the full review.
